Hey folks, been a while since I’ve posted something… so here goes!

I’ve been taking a break from hosting the secret cafe through the winter seeing as it probably wouldn’t have been a great time for turnout, and I’ve been totally busy.

BUT, SPRING BREAK is just around the corner, so I’m working on an event for sometime in Mid-March. I’ll post the rest of the details soon.

I’m thinking PIZZA PARTY! What do you think?

Hey folks, thanks to everyone who came to the brunch show yesterday!

We raised $150 to donate to the legal defense of the Elliott Free State arrestees! Great job, Portland!

I’m excited for the next secret cafe, which will be our first dinner. It’s happening on Sunday, October 8th.

I will pose the rest of the details and the menu in the next couple of weeks. Take care until then!

Punk Brunch! September 26, 2009

Filed under: Punk Brunch — brunchatmyhouse @ 12:16 am

Whoa! Hey! Okay!!!

October is quickly approaching and I’ve been working to get this thing together!

Our next brunch is going to be on Sunday, October 11th and the secret is out!

This brunch is going to be a benefit and there are going to be a couple of bands playing in the basement afterward, there’s a poster with all of the info below. All proceeds are going to some kids who were arrested this last summer for blockading logging roads in Oregon! They’ve got a ton of legal fees and we’re hoping to help alleviate some of that (though I’m not sure we can come up with a few million bucks?)!

We’re asking folks to donate $5 – $20 for this show, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

Here’s the tentative menu for this month’s brunch:

TOFU McVEGAN! (Think “Sausage McMuffin”)
Okay, totally gross and totally awesome all at once!
Buttered English muffins filled with tofu, “sausage” and “mozzarella” slices, pressed and grilled on a panini grill.

Tofu scramble, soy-chorizo and spicy homefries, all wrapped in a large flour tortilla and grilled on a panini grill.

Oats, coconut flakes, and lots of seeds, mixed with maple syrup and baked! Served with not-milk of some sort, or soy yogurt, and topped with fresh berries!

We did these before and they came out lovely! A mix of brown rice, tapioca and buckwheat flour, a little sugar and other goodness. Topped with powdered sugar and fresh berries.

We’re also going to have some freshly-baked pastries, orange juice and coffee!

Okay, hope I see you then! Take care of your bad self in the meantime.
